Fleet Road Surgery, Fleet Road, Hampstead, London
This extension to an existing surgery was to have provided four additional consulting rooms, one treatment room where minor surgery could take place, a training room that doubled as a further consultation room, an administration office linked to a large and inviting waiting/reception area, naturally lit as an antidote to the current deep plan facility which has poor natural daylight penetration. In addition, a dedicated pram store was designed to ensure good visual supervision from the reception area.
The new facility would have provided an after hours service which meant that the design had to allow for secure closure of the main body of the centre at night.
The project was cancelled as a consequence of funding issues with the Royal Free Hospital.
